"Often, when sharpening has been applied by the photographers, it's too much," he says. Since the degree of sharpening is directly related to the print size, resolution and viewing distance, it's often best to make judgments of sharpness by evaluating the print rather than the computer screen. "What you see on the monitor doesn't translate to what's happening on the paper," he adds. "We've come up with our own sharpening curves that really work."
